History of Philodendron

Philodendron is a large genus of flowering plants native to the tropical Americas and West Indies. They were first collected from the wild in 1644 by Georg Marcgraff but was first scientifically classified by Charles Plumier. The name 'Philodendron' means tree lover in Greek.

Birth of the Birkin

Philodendron Birkin was an accidental and rare mutation of the Philodendron Rojo Congo. The nickname Birkin derives from the high fashion brand bag by Hermes. This hybrid doesn't exist in the wild and has the ability to revert back to Rojo Congo or even maybe mutate again!
